Abstract | Geobacillus species have potential applications in various biotechnological processes. Defined minimal medium that supports the good growth of the thermophile G. thermoglucosidasius NCIMB 11955 has been developed. In this work, a new defined minimal medium was developed which gave consistently high biomass yield of the G. thermoglucosidasius strain (1.37 DCW g/L) under aerobic conditions at 60 °C. We used Plackett-Burman method to design and optimize the media for the enhanced biomass production. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first minimal media which was designed and reported for this Geobacillus strain. In conclusion, we were able to grow a strain of G. thermoglucosidasius in minimal media which contains glucose as a sole carbon source and achieved high biomass yields. Using this strain, the described media would be further utilized for industrial bioprocesses |
