Abstract

Geo-politics is a relationship between the geographical territory and politics whether on local, national and international level. African country Somalia is a part of Horn of Africa. The countries of the Horn are closely related not only by their geography, also by their history, socio cultural, economy and demography. Since the end of cold war the Western powers have been opposing for regional influence. Due to the natural hazard and human activity, Somalia suffered from devastated instability. After cold war the United States had heavily engagement with serious implications in Africa. It is within the structure of new development in that area and competition with its old allies, that US change its policy and emphasizes on economic imperatives, political values and humanitarianism rather than on military concerns specially focused in Horn of Africa. This paper will emphasize the geopolitical implication in Somalia and why external powers very much interested in this region.
