Abstract | In this paper, different factor responsible for path loss in under water acoustic communication have been identified. The paper covers important factors that may affect the quality of communication in underwater acoustic communication. These factors have significant contribution in overall path loss calculation. During the underwater communication channel performance optimization process also these factors are essential to be considered. However, the paper mainly focuses on conventional transmission loss and depth dependence in context of underwater communication in detail. Initially the different factors responsible for path loss in context of underwater communication have been identified and studied from the available literature. Then the relationship between conventional propagation loss and depth dependence has been quantified in order to analyze the path-loss in underwater acoustic communication. |
