Abstract | Mung/green gram (Phaseolus aureus Roxb.) belongs to family Fabaceae. It is an important protein seed plant or pulse crop with many nutritional and medicinal importance. It contains 24.7% protein, 0.6% fats, 0.9% fibres (Potter and Hotchkiss, 1997). Phaseolus aureus is very important in human diet. Dietary fibre content is one of the most important parameter of technological quality and also have physiological values. Dietary fibre are resistant to digestion and absorption in human diet of modern people, being exposed to stress and environmental pollution. Dietary fibres show a no. of health benefits like prevention of cardio vascular diseases, decrease in blood cholestrol and glucose level, prevention of digestive system carcinogenic diseases, constipation. Now the present need is to increase the dietary fibre content of Phaseolus aureus. An experiment was performed during summer season of 2009, at Saifia Science PG College, Bhopal, where the two cultivers (G-65 and S-12) of Phaseolus aureus where sown in the collected samples of soil that was treated with difference individual and combination doses of Azotobacter and PSB. It was observed that both the cultivar showed slight variation in TDF but at higher conc. (combination doses), there was significant increase in TDF as compared to control (untreated). |
