Abstract | Mentha arvensis L. (Corn mint) possesses a medicinally important and aromatic characteristic which is used in pharmaceuticals. The presence of active principle terpenoids, phenols and flavonoids it fetches good monetary return in industry. Chromatographic evaluation with various extract compatibility and solvent combination was performed as Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) to analyse presence of the phytochemical compounds in Mentha arvensis L.Secondary plant products are of major interest because of their different functions and their biological activities. Phytochemical constituents with respect to the role of this plant in traditional medicine treatment have well been established.The constitutes generally identified in Corn mint are generally: Menthol, Menthone, isomenthone, limonene, neomenthol, methyl acetate, β-caryophyllene, piperitone, alpha and beta-pinene, tannin, camphene, carvone, Eucalyptol, piperitone oxide, di-hydrocarvone, Linalool, trans-caryopyllene, caryopyllene oxide, α-terpineol, α-phellandrene, L-menthol, thymol, eugenol, α-pinene, β-pinene, rosmarinic acid, methyl acetate, o-mentha-1(7)-8-dien-3-ol, 3-methyl cyclo-haxene, 3-octanol, pulegone, β-Bisabolene, β-cubenene. The screened phytochemicals were compared with standard and can be explored for separation and purification. |
