Abstract | The authors have already studied psychological challenges faced by the single parenting women (SPW) in NCR, India (Akansha and Das 2019). In this paper, we have studied negative and positive effects of single parenting. We analysed the possible advantages of single parenting under different categories and it was found that about 40% of SPW ranked each “you make your children super responsible” and “you are not dependent on the others” while 20% ranked “you make all the parenting decisions”. Regarding ranking the disadvantages, it was observed that rank 1 was given to (a) You always feel short of money by 25%, (b) You always feel overloaded with work by 30%, (c) You always feel lonely by 25%, (d) You feel difficult in discipline your children by 20%. The majority of SPW (40%) ranked 4th the option (d) related to disciplining the children. |
