Abstract

As the famous ada ge by Lao Tzu goes – “The journey of thousand miles begins with one step”, it reflects the true sense of our proposed writing. In our paper, we have taken Delhi, capital of our Nation to be the core of our study and tried to identify the significance of flawless and easy transportation as a vital ingredient in strengthening Tourism. Besides other factors, transportation emerged as a very crucial, supportive block in linking with tourist attraction and their overall satisfaction. India is a popular country on the list of travellers because of its varied and extravagant culture, heritage and splendour places to explore. Delhi which is a metropolitan city boasts of many national and international tourists every year. It welcomes several International business travellers, International leisure travellers as well as National leisure travellers who like to spend their time in this city and enjoy its nitty-gritty. Travelling in Delhi is not an arduous task, as there are several modes like Taxi, Cabs, Buses, Auto rickshaws, Local trains, last but not the least Metro for the people to explore the city. Delhi Metro is considered as a life-line for the travellers and local commuters, the services provided by the organization is highly appreciated by the public; they enjoy this sophisticated technology and feel delighted while travelling by Metro. Aim - The purpose of this study is to provide the new insight in-terms of convenience, capacity, travel time and accessibility of the transportation system as well as in travel & tourism sector. Methodology – We have conducted a survey to find out what people actually feel about Delhi Metro and how does it helps to support movement for regular goers as well as for the tourists. We have also taken in-depth reference of the available studies and literature in order to justify our findings and identify the gap for amelioration and changes which can further be helpful in establishing better transport tourism mechanism. Findings – The survey conducted by us shown positive implication in terms of people accepting Delhi Metro as a vital tool for transportation and tourism sustainability. Factors like – cleanliness, affordability and punctuality clearly depicts that Delhi Metro values its travellers and provide them a comfortable journey. The success of Delhi Metro should be migrated through all India pan presence. Limitations – Our country lacks in infrastructure and there is lot of scope for nearly all the cities to develop in terms of better facilities like roads, tourist spots makeover, transit service and technological collaborations. Government need to put great efforts in order to gain systematic portfolio for tourism alleviation and exchange of speedy business.
