Abstract | Acid related complaints and disorders have assumed distinctly a high proportion in today’s globalized world. The pathophysiology of such diseases is attributed to the imbalance between aggressive factors (like acid, pepsin, and Helicobacter pylori infection) and local mucosal defenses (like secretion of bicarbonate, mucus, and prostaglandins).Proton pump inhibitors represent one of the most commonly prescribed classes of drugs both in hospital and primary care settings. These inhibit the gastric H+/K+-ATPase via covalent binding to cysteine residues of the proton pump. The present study clearly demonstrates the anti-ulcer potential of herbal drug coriander sativum, which was supported by macroscopic and histopathological studies of stomach wall tissues of differently treated groups of rats. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antiulcer activity of a coriander sativum. |
