Abstract | Persons or groups of persons who have been forced or obliged to flee or to leave their homes or places of habitual residence, in particular as a result of or in order to avoid the effects of armed conflict, situations of generalized violence, violations of human rights, or natural o human-made disasters, and who have not crossed an internationally recognized state border (UN Secretary-General, 2004). The purpose of the present study was to examine the socio-economic condition of displaced and landless population and to find out their problems in Nawabpur Village of North 24 Parganas. The present study has been based on both primary and secondary sources of data. The results presented here rely on data collected from a random sample of 100 household in the study area, using well-structured questionnaire. It have been find out that Before the year of 2000 Nawabpur village is one of the most fertile areas of Rajarhat region perhaps North 24 parganas but after implication of land acquisition act in 2000 these area became a buildup area. The farmers are lost their agricultural land and they are not Satisfied because for this land acquisition act one class people are poorer and another richest. The percentage of expenditure of landless population was minimum in 2000 because in this time people get their basic food, fuel from land. In present time their income and expenditure both are high but saving is low. |
