Abstract | The present study was undertaken to observe the tendency of crime among adolescent and role of schools for its control. A self- description survey developed by the investigator was used to collect the data. A sample of 40 adolescents was taken from a government and a public school of South – West zone of New Delhi. Collected data was statistically analyzed by using percentage technique. Results revealed that 85% students have bunked their classes, 37.5% students have use unfair means during examinations, 30% students have deliberately destroyed school’s or any other’s property, 22.5% students carries pocket knife, 45% students have stolen money or other valuables of their parents or others, 25% students have been involved in sexual activities, 37.5% students have consumed alcohol/ smoke at public places, 25% students have argued with their parents very often, 40% students visit adult / porn sites on internet. School, parents, community and other organizations should work together to be sensitized about the problems and needs of adolescents. Early identification and intervention strategies should be taken by the school authorities to control the crime among adolescent. |
