Abstract | Objective: Aim of this study was to develop the high performance thin layer chromatography (HPTLC) finger print profile of extracts of dried leaves of Adhatoda vasica and fruits of Piper longum. Method : Ethanolic and ethylacetate extract of leaves of Adhatoda vasica was developed in Methanol:Toluene:Dioxane:Ammonia (2:2:5:1) mobile phase where as : Ethanolic and ethyl acetate extract of fruits Piper longum were developed in Toluene: Ethyl acetate (7:3) using standard procedure and were scanned under UV 254 nm and UV 366 nm. Result :The HPTLC fingerprinting analysis of leaves of two extract of Adhatoda vasica showed 12 and 8 peaks respectively at 2 uL , similarly the two extract of Piper longum showed 9 peaks of each extracts, in the above said solvent system. Conclusion HPTLC analysis of dried leaves of Adhatoda vasica and fruits of Piper longum provide standard fingerprints and can be used as a reference for the identification and quality control of the drug. |
